I recently had a chance to work with this beautiful young actor on her headshots. As usual, I strictly used natural light on this session. It was a sunny day and the lighting was there so there was no need for me to set up strobes or continuous lighting when I had such beautiful available light in my studio. I always prefer using natural lighting when it is available because it is the most flattering and the best representation of yourself when you step into an audition room. Actor headshots should not be highly glamourous. You are an actor not a model. Your headshot needs to convey who you are so that casting directors know what you really look like in person. Therefore you will want photos that are perfectly lit with minimal shadows and distractions, especially if you are a female. Can you believe that Valentines Day is already here? It makes me think just where is the year going? Valentines Day usually brings a massive amount of engagements and newly engaged couples which means that they will undoubtedly be seeking an engagement photo shoot sometime afterwards. And with spring and summer right around the corner, what better time to get some creative outdoor shots. But couples need not be engaged couples in order to have a photo shoot. Creative engagement photos have been increasingly popular in the last decade, however it is not necessary to be engaged anymore in order to have photos taken of you and your significant. More and more couples want and seek creative photos of themselves that capture their relationship and their love for each other. It is also becoming increasingly common to have a couples photo shoot that celebrates an anniversary.

To highlight the special day I want to share some very special photos of a very special couple that I took a couple of months ago that are not engaged…..yet. On the day of their photo shoot it was extremely cold and windy. It was the day after a really bad storm and the wind was simply relentless. Nonetheless, they were brave enough to endure the weather and I was able to get some gorgeous images of them. Hard to tell from the photos just how windy it was, but believe me it was.

Long Island Child Photographer/Flushing Photo Session

Even though I know that it is winter there are so many great children’s photo sessions that I have not had a chance to write about. Take this one for example. I am not sure how I even missed featuring this one. It was such a fun session and I absolutely loved this little girl’s orange coat. When I saw it I was so excited. It is so perfect for a Long Island and New York City fall photo session! The color went absolutely perfect with the environment and the fall foliage at Flushing’s Kissena Park. We were also fortunate that it was fairly mild and not that cold. It’s always a good idea to try to get fall photo sessions taken in October or early November since it starts to get a lot colder in the later part of November. I find that most kids are just not as comfortable being outdoors in the cold. Of course every now and then you get a few exceptions. :o) I am sharing some of my favorite photos from this fabulous session. Don’t you just love these photos? I would love to hear what you think.
