Long Island Boudoir Photos/Boudoir Photo Shoot with Haley

Long Island Boudoir Photos

A few months ago I got contacted by Haley to do a glamour and boudoir photo shoot at my studio in Long Island.  I was thrilled to learn that she had just started working as a plus model and that I would be able to share the photos from her shoot.  Time and time again I always hear  women wanting to do a boudoir photo session but always use the excuse, “but, I can’t because I need to lose 30 lbs”, or, “I am too fat…..maybe next year after I lose this fat and get back into shape”.  And I totally get it and understand.  But here is what happens, a year goes by and you still don’t have the perfect body that you had hoped to achieve because life just happens and the years go by and then before you know it you have another excuse that you are too old and you just never get this experience.  All because you are seeking the perfection that is just never going to be there.  You know why?  Because you will just never feel and believe that you are perfect as you are.  Perfection is an illusion and we as women all feel that we do not look perfect.  Most of us are all fighting the same battle.  We either are just not blessed with skinny bodies,  we feel that we are not skinny enough, we get married and have kids and we all get older.  We spend are whole lives feeling like we are not perfect or wishing to look a certain way.  It’s no different than wishing that we had curly hair or wish that we had straight hair.  Sound familiar?  Why not just embrace who we are and the fact that we are all beautiful in our own individual and unique way.  Not everyone can be thin.  Curves are beautiful. Embrace them ladies and love them.  And if you are still making excuses because you don’t believe you are perfect than you really need to book yourself a boudoir shoot so that I can make you see just how beautiful you really are.  It is a guaranteed self-esteem and confidence boost.  If you would like to book a Long Island Boudoir Photos session, you can contact me here.

Now back to beautiful Haley…….

I had the opportunity to do take Diana & Victor’s Long Island Engagement Photos at this beautiful location in Long Island near Manhasset and Roslyn.  There were so many pretty spots and my couple made perfect models.  I captured some traditional poses and then some of what I like to call candid poses.  Let’s discuss candid photos and candid posing in this blog.  What is candid posing?  Well, it is exactly what is sounds like.  Posing that is candid.  LOL.  Now that was a really great definition.  But seriously almost everyone likes getting candid photos captured of themselves because they want to look more natural in the photo rather than stiff and posed, but the thing with candid photos is that sometimes people can look awkward in their candid moments and when they try to pose themselves.  In particular, the pose or stance that they are in at that candid moment may not be very flattering or it can make them look 10 pounds heavier.  Or better yet if they are caught laughing and pull back, they will have a double chin or their mouth wide open (yes that happens all the time…..LOL).   I can assure you that nobody wants a double chin or to look heavier.  Better yet they don’t want to be caught at an awkward moment.  My job as a photographer is to make my subjects look their very best.  Even though some of the candids that I take are genuinely candid, in particular those that I usually keep significant distance away from my subjects, I still tend to pose my couples in a candid yet flattering way and then have one of them say something to the other person hoping to make them laugh naturally.  Basically I set them up in a pose and then tell them what to do, after all my couples are not professional models and they don’t always know what to do and how they look like in my camera.  That is my job as the professional photographer and  why you need a professional to take your photos to assure that you look good.

Here are some of my favorite Long Island Engagement photos from Diana & Victor’s session.

Long Island Boudoir – Boudoir Photos with Ms. E.

Although I regularly shoot  boudoir photos in Long Island and NYC, I recently had the opportunity to do a boudoir photo shoot while I was in South Carolina.  I love shooting at different places other than my studio.   I always like to give my clients the option to do a boudoir shoot at their home, a hotel or another location if they prefer or if they have something specific in mind.  For this session,  I mixed up the boudoir with some contemporary glamour photos.  Taking photos like these are always great because it gives you some time to settle into the shoot, calm the nerves and it’s great because these are always safe for you to post and share with your friends on social media, etc, or even give mom a photo.  In addition, sometimes you get a nice professional photo that you may want to use as a headshot.  Boudoir does not mean that all photos must be taken in lingerie.  You should wear anything that makes you feel sexy, beautiful and most importantly, confident.

My client, Ms. E was simply awesome.  Not only is she beautiful, but she really knew how to follow my posing directions well so that we could get these awesome boudoir photos.  She totally rocked this session.  Thank you, Ms. E.  I had so much fun taking these boudoir photos of you and it looks like you enjoyed the session as well.    I hope that you will enjoy these pictures for many years to come. 😮
