Long Island Headshots/Long Island Actor Headshots/Natural Light

I recently had a chance to work with this beautiful young actor on her headshots.  As usual, I  strictly used natural light on this session.  It was a sunny day and the lighting was there so there was no need for me to set up strobes or continuous lighting when I had such beautiful available light in my studio.  I always prefer using natural lighting when it is available because it is the most flattering and the best representation of yourself when you step into an audition room.  Actor headshots should not be highly glamourous.  You are an actor not a model.  Your headshot needs to convey who you are  so that casting directors know what you really look like in person.  Therefore you will want photos that are perfectly lit with minimal shadows and distractions, especially if you are a female.  That is why you must make sure that your photographer understands lighting and how it works. Long Island Actor Headshots

If you are a Long Island actor, having a great headshot  is a must since it is your calling card to get work.  I love shooting headshots.  I enjoy directing and coaching my subjects and working with them to create the best images possible.  I enjoy meeting people and hearing about how they got into acting and I enjoy the challenge of getting the “look”.  Nailing a great headshot is hard work.  It certainly is not easy and can require many clicks of the shutter before we get the right look.  Here are some recent headshots that I took for an aspiring young  Long Island, NY actor.  Headshots are NOT just for actors anymore.  With social media and on-line presence playing such a huge factor in our lives, everyone needs a good headshot for their on-line and social media profiles.  Isn’t it time that you book your shoot today?

Long Island Headshots/Dancer Headshots

I love to photograph dancers, musicians and actors.  Perhaps it’s that creative and artistic bond that we share in the creative arts.  Or maybe it is just their passion and aspiration for what they do or what they want to do.   Marissa recently contacted me for headshots.  She had an upcoming dance tryout and audition and needed a good headshot and full-body shot.  Here are some of her and my favorite images from her session.

Lindsey recently contacted me  because she needed to get new updated actor headshots.  So she came over one day and we took several shots.  We started the session by taking some indoors and then the sun came out so we ventured outside to get a few more.   I believe it is important to get different looks from your headshot session.  It is equally important to bring a variety of pictures to a new agent or casting director.  It is also a good idea to update your headshot every year or two especially if you have recently changed your hair style or hair color.  Here are a few photo favorites from the session.

Long Island, NY Headshots/Gina’s Headshot Session

A couple of weeks ago I received a phone call from Gina who was looking to get some headshots  taken for her soon to be released new book, Blood Ties.  She mentioned to me how she absolutely hated having her picture taken but i quickly reassured her that we would have plenty of time to take several shots for her to choose from.  We had a beautiful day to shoot outdoors by Newbridge Road Park and Gina totally rocked her session.  Here are a few of her favorites from the session and some of mine.  I have read an excerpt from the book and it looks like it’s going to be a great read especially if you are into paranormal romance.  For more on Gina’s book and to stay up to date with the book release, you can follow her here on Twitter .
