Long Island Personal Branding Headshots

Personal Branding Headshots  are professional images of you and your brand.  If you or your company promote yourself using social media and/or if you need a brand makeover, professional headshots will be a great investment.

I had an opportunity to photograph Carol and Russell Glick, husband and wife team owners of Strategic Divorce Financial Advisors in Great Neck, NY.  They both needed to submit a professional image for an ad featured in Metropolitan Magazine in addition to having professional headshots and images to update their website and social media.  When i first begin to work with a client I have a consultation first in order to learn more about their company and how they wish to promote and market their brand message.  We then choose a location for the shoot and discuss wardrobe options.

I am so excited that Spring is finally here and that the weather is getting warmer.  I am looking forward to taking more headshot sessions outdoors.  I absolutely love the diversity of backgrounds that you can get for your professional headshots outdoors.  This featured session is of a co-worker and friend of mine.  Nathalie is a skating coach and an aspiring young actress.  She came to me to get her headshots done.    We scheduled a date and took them outside the skating rink and captured a variety of looks.  Here are some of my favorites from her headshot session.

I know that I have said it many times before how much I love taking headshots.  I love working with interesting people, whether that person is a professional, business person, athlete or an artist, they  teach me about themselves and their industries and/or hobbies.  I had the pleasure of working with pop/rock singer, Amy Leo.  Amy is a passionate Long Island, NY based singer that has also traveled the US and internationally.

Many times when I first meet a client at a session they are almost always a bit nervous.  It usually takes a good 20 minutes or so before their shoulders relax and their faces soften up.  Once that happens, that is when the session really starts.  It is usually why most headshot sessions take about 30 minutes or more, especially if you need or want more than one headshot and a couple of different looks.

Amy immediately warmed up in front of my camera, she was ready from the very beginning to rock her session.   Every now and then this will happen.  Some people are just tend to be more relaxed in front of the camera.  After about twenty or so minutes into the session, Amy got even more relaxed.  The best images almost always happen about halfway through the session to the very end.  We did several looks both in studio and outside.   Here are some of my favorites from her Long Island Singer Headshots shoot:

After I finished taking  her headshots we did a few fashion/glamour inspired pictures.  Feel free to follow the link to view more of Amy’s New York glamour photos and when is the best time to book a shoot if you want pictures taken with the cherry blossoms.

Thanks, Amy.  I enjoyed working with you, you totally rock as a performer and as a person.  I wish you continued success in all your endeavors.

Spring is finally here and it’s time to wear those pretty bright colors again.  They also look great and make a great choice for what to wear for your headshot session as you can see from the photos below.  Jackie, a professional dancer from Long Island was in need of new Long Island Dancer Headshots.  She contacted me and I gave her some recommendations on colors to bring to her photo session.  One of the colors I always like to suggest to my clients is royal blue.  It always looks great in photos!  Another great color choice is green.  In this case the green also  worked since Jackie is a dancer for the New York Jets, so it definitely worked  for the headshots.  I love these cute tops and I absolutely love these colors.  We ended up using all three blouses that she brought because  they were just fun.  :o)  Of course after the long miserable winter that we had here in New York it is refreshing to see people coming in with more cheerful choices of colors.

I recently had a chance to work with this beautiful young actor on her headshots.  As usual, I  strictly used natural light on this session.  It was a sunny day and the lighting was there so there was no need for me to set up strobes or continuous lighting when I had such beautiful available light in my studio.  I always prefer using natural lighting when it is available because it is the most flattering and the best representation of yourself when you step into an audition room.  Actor headshots should not be highly glamourous.  You are an actor not a model.  Your headshot needs to convey who you are  so that casting directors know what you really look like in person.  Therefore you will want photos that are perfectly lit with minimal shadows and distractions, especially if you are a female.  That is why you must make sure that your photographer understands lighting and how it works.
