Long Island Sweet 16 Photography – New Hyde Park Inn Sweet 16

Stephanie’s  Sweet 16 party was at the New Hyde Park Inn in Long Island, NY.  I first met Stephanie and her mom when I captured her Sweet 16 Pre-Shoot.  I knew then that it was going to be a very special party.  She wore a beautiful pink princess dress and she decorated the room to go along with her Disney theme.  Each table was named after a Disney Princess, the cake was shaped like a castle and disney tunes filled the room during cocktail hour and dinner time.

You can absolutely tell how wonderful Stephanie is just by looking at her photos. She is beautiful inside and out, always beaming with a smile, gracious, sweet and endlessly devoted to her family and her loved ones. From a special grand entrance, to an emotional toast by her dad that had her in tears, to heartfelt candle speeches, non-stop dancing, to a huge farewell hug at the end by all her friends, it was truly a magical night to remember.  I am so thankful to have met Stephanie and her family and to have captured this special day for her.  Stephanie, I hope your day was as amazing as you always dreamed of. Happy birthday!  Thank you all for being such a blast to spend the night with.

Robert Moses/Long Island Photo Session

Robert Moses/Long Island Photo Session

I did a fun Robert Moses Long Island Photo session with veteran NY Jets cheerleader, Jackie.  We started our photo shoot  by the boardwalk and took advantage of the beautiful golden setting sun as we walked  to the lighthouse.  Robert Moses is a great place to have photos taken as it has so much to offer with so many great scenes, including a lighthouse, beach and a bay.  The walk to the lighthouse takes about 15-20 minutes.  Along the way there is a nice long winding boardwalk that is surrounded with all that nature has to offer.  Sometimes a deer or two may surprise you.   Along our walk over to the lighthouse, we stopped along the way to take some creative portraits on the boardwalk.

The sun was quickly setting and it was very windy on the beach side so I opted to go by the bay.  I then got Jackie to show off her strength and athleticism by doing some huge leaps into the air.  Here is one of them.

Here is another take, this one using flash.

Two completely different looks of the same scene.  Which one is your favorite?  The top one using the natural available light or the bottom one using  flash?

We finished up our session by taking a couple of quick photos by the lighthouse.

New York Prom Photographer:Pre-Prom Photos

  • What are Pre-Prom Photos?

Pre-Prom Photos are photos that can be taken either prior to your actual prom date, or, they can be taken just after everyone is dressed and about to leave for the Prom.  Typically they are taken the day of Prom Night before heading off for the big party.

  • Why take Pre-Prom Photos?

Although there are almost always photo packages available by the school’s photographer at the Prom event, the photos are usually  taken on regular plain backdrops.  Typically the same traditional poses are taken at the same crop for everyone and there is not much of a diversity in crops, angles, backgrounds and lighting as there is if you hire a professional Prom Photographer.  A professional photographer  can be hired to come before leaving for the event to take some creative photos utilizing different environmental backdrops in addition to taking pictures at unique angles and crops.

  • What are some advantages of taking Pre-Prom Photos?

There are many advantages of taking Pre-Prom photos some include having more photos taken of yourself, your date, your friends and sometimes even your family and your pet.  You can also take them at your home, or another location in route to your prom.  You can also take group photos with your friends.

  • How long does a Pre-Prom photoshoot last?

Typically it takes about 45 minutes to an hour but it also depends if you are adding additional couples or if you want your own private individualized session.  If you want to add an additional  location that can play a factor.  As you see you can make your Pre-Prom photoshoot customized to your needs.

  • How much does a Pre-Prom photoshoot cost?

It depends.  As mentioned before Pre-prom photoshoots can be customized to include individuals and/or additional couples and groups.   In most cases Pre-Prom shoots are done in groups as parties.  Since most kids split the limo and go to prom in giant groups,  a Pre-Prom shoot can actually be a great deal when you split the cost between the other couples and do a group package.   You can wind up with professional photos of each individual child, couple and sometimes even the Parents can be included in the photos if they are around.  Most parents want at least one really nice photo of their teenager. It’s such a great idea to have a professional photographer come to capture professional photos when they are dressed up for this special night.

If you are interested in a Pre-Prom photoshoot and would like to learn more please get in touch with me here.

Here are a few photos from a Pre-Prom photo session.  The Prom was held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, NY.  I met Stephanie at her house in Queens, NY and took a few photos of her and her friend before leaving for the city where i took additional photos of her and her boyfriend.  I will post those photos in the next blog post.  As you can see, I took photos of both girls individually and together.  I also took photos of each girl and her family.  As I mentioned before it is always great if you can include the family in the photos with the teen.  Prom night is a special night.  You will definitely want a nice photo taken with your mom/dad/family to remember this.

Long Island Children’s Photographer/Fall Family Sessions

Long Island Children’s Photographer/Fall Family Sessions

Here is one of my favorite fall family sessions of 2014.  I absolutely loved this photo session with Lucas.  Lucas, a typical two year old child was so much fun to capture. He is such a happy go lucky little boy.  He was just all smiles throughout the session despite the chilly day.    He played with the pumpkins and even posed with his mommy and daddy for a few family photos.  I always love to include the parents in the photos, they are usually my favorites.  I love the laughter, the smiles and the little giggles in between the shots.  I know as adults it’s all about capturing our children, but it’s  just as important to exist in these photos as well.  It’a part of your family history and legacy and someday your children will appreciate the fact that you were in the photos with them.  After Lucas finished posing for his photos, he got a lollipop, a well deserved treat for being such a good boy.  :o)   I got a few more shots of him as he started posing for me with his lollipop.
