Coney Island Photography

It’s been a super long time since I was at Coney Island so I was excited for this Coney Island Photo Session.  Truthfully I did not know what to expect as I did not remember much about Coney Island since I was last there and it has recently changed a bit in the last few years. I was however, looking forward  to include some of the cool colored art walls that I heard about and I hoped to get some photos by the boardwalk and the beach.  Unfortunately, we did not get to do any photos at the beach  since it was super windy and the sand was just blowing everywhere.  It felt like a sandstorm.  I am not sure if this is the norm for Coney Island or if it was just bad timing for us.  After being attacked by all the sand, we got off the boardwalk and walked towards an alley way and found the cool colored Coney Art Walls.  I started to shoot there and got some awesome shots of both Natalie and Teresa.  I started with Teresa first on the Riot wall which was super chic and cool and matched her retro vintage look.  Natalie brought along a really cool pair of heart beige glasses and had a great shade of red lipstick on so I thought that the gold wall would compliment her look best and it certainly did.

Afterwards we walked down the alley and found a cool ATM machine and game area and took some photos of Teresa and some portraits of Natalie with the beautiful sunlight just setting behind her.

We then proceeded to walk towards the Ferris Wheel  and the girls stopped to get some Cotton Candy.  We of course got a few photos with that as well.

Since the sun had already set and the wind died down we decided to walk  back to the walls to get a few really neat night shots.  Look  how cool those lights are sparkling in the background.

If you have never been to Coney Island, or if it’s just been way too long since you have gone, than I certainly do recommend that you check it out.  There is so much to do there.  Rides, games, the beach and of course no trip to Coney Island could be complete without a stop at the World Famous Nathans!

On May 15th, on top of a rooftop lounge at the Gansevoort Park Hotel in NYC, I had the opportunity to capture some  images for a special event.  The event was emceed by Lucy Norris of  “On Deck with Lucy Norris”.   Rick Galvin, talent manager of CG Talent Management and founder of the Carol Galvin Foundation hosted a fundraiser to benefit  two mothers fighting breast cancer.  Rick started the Carol Galvin Foundation in honor of his mother whom he lost to cancer when he was 11 yrs old.  The foundation benefits women that are fighting cancer.   Many special guests gathered  together that evening to be a part of  this great cause.  Amongst them was talented singer and anti-bullying activist  and advocate Meredith O’Connor.  The rising music sensation performed her new single, Just the Thing which is currently available for download on Itunes.  Meredith is gratiously donating 75% of all the proceeds  from the sale of her single to the Carol Galvin Foundation.  You can download her new single  by clicking here.    Later that evening she performed a duet with music artist D Gray Grayson.  Saboroma Couture sponsored the event, of which 100% of the proceeds went to two special mothers that are fighting cancer;  Cathy Marino and Diana Polanco.  Later that evening, Saboroma treated guests to  a fashion show that featured Victoria Secrets model Terese Pagh.  The fashion show showcased some of Saboroma’s latest collection of beautiful evening gowns and cocktail dresses.

Featured below is a collage of images from the event including some of  the red carpet arrivals, Meredith’s performances, Saboroma’s Fashion Show and the thank you speeches.
